Teams/Clans

Post by TheNewJokelie_ on Wed Jul 02, 2008 3:05 am

I think bringing back Teams / Clans would be a great idea to make the site grow!
I'm not advertising but there is another site with Clans/Teams and they have several members! So I think it might bring back some enthusiastic and excitement back to this site! It will really grow I guarantee it! Just give it a shot guys! For a rule how about no swearing and there should be a team captain and he has to maintain his team and if the leader of he / she doesnt maintain his / her responcibility then the team should be banned! And the members cant make another team ever! I think it would work also I think at the end of their name should be their old name. Demonstrating for Ex.

Explosive... hmm, think ya chose the wrong adjective there m8.

As a long time member of Trugamer let me give you a brief synopsis on the life of clans and why they no longer exist...

Before I start this story no one take this personally and add responses like "My clan was not the reason for the downfall blah blah blah you suck Mavericks!" Because if you are going to put up a post like that then yes, your the idea clans were ruined.

Now one day in Onlinegamingland.... there was a group of people who decided to make a clan.... These players decided to create a few clans. These clan names were the Sir's and the izzy's. These were great clans with respectful members. People saw how much fun they were having and they said heyyyy, lets start up a few more clans came along. These were the Blades, Guns, Killers (my god these names are violent), Aliens, Off's, On's, and a few others. Right around this time a player came along by the name of MavericksMan. He would in the future be known as the creator of the best clan ever named the Mavericks. This was a one man band that just rocked the show. But anyways, back to the story. People went through in Onlinegamingland all great. Our main men, SirSticky and LetsGetDizzy, put together a few team tournaments that, in one word, rocked. These were great.

Soon though, a dark cloud would come over Onlinegamingland. The former teams who had mature, respectful members were slowly breaking up because they were such good players and they no longer needed one another. So to try and carry on the legacy of clans a bunch of kids decided that they would start up clans that will go un-named. These clans were nothing compared to the first ones in a)maturity and b)skill. They thought the idea of a clan was to chat and start drama with other clans. These kids were immature and lead to the downfall of clans. They didnt care a thing about the reason clans were originally created and that was - to compete in POOL with each other. Not who could run their mouths the most.

So here''s why clans were pretty much gotten rid of in a simple sentence. The good players and people who originally created clans began to break up and they would be overtaken by the villainous kids who wanted to create clans to start arguments.

The thing that was the heart of clans was the leader. If the leader was a good pool player who wanted to play and beat clans then they were a good clan. If the leader was no good at pool and never wanted to play and just talk then the clans were no good and useless.

P.S Just because I didn't put your clan name in the first part does not mean your clan was bad. They were just not memorable to me and I feel like most of the GT oldies would agree that these are the most memorable clans.

I have to strongly dissagree, and I think that bringing back team/clan names would be a bad idea.
Although it can bring popularity, and create friendships, problems can arise from this also, as BlackWidow01 stated above, check the thread.

Clans were good while they lasted but unfortunately they ran their toll and I agree with Benny that bringing back clans would create un-needed drama and problems.

I never saw the problems with team/clan names but thats not to say there wasnt any, although there was some good people in the clans as it has been rightly said, but if one has to go they all do. Otherwise it will be one rule for one person and another for another person.

Changing the rule for team/clan names i totally disagree with and think its a stupid idea, advertising the site and making it grow bigger, i doubt it will help at all. If the rule was to change, then i think there is going to be dispute from the clan names that was banned some time ago.

An effect on the site Question only one effect i think it would have and thats a bad one as its already been said. The rules that having "no swearing" already exgsist to all players anyway. and "having a team captin to maintain the team is a load of bull and from what i see that you have said jerry it seems you are wanting a team so you can be the team leader of it, also i dont think you have thought about this clearly. for one, the rules you think there should be to team /clan names and having there old names on the end of thier name is somthing you want, not what other people might want, and having their team/clan names banned of it isnt maintained properly is just silly because, it means if a player makes a name up and choses to go on a wild rampage then it means the whole clan has to suffer or the leader of the clan for one childish person ? ....

i think you should think this through more jerry and look at it from other peoples point of veiw, what you have said seems pretty eeeek ish to me sorry if im offending you i dont mean to ..

no offence in this post ..

the clans/teams were not the problem.

The problem was the small minority that ruined it for all.

But the thing is why do we need teams/clans cant we all just play and have fun? why do we need to "belong" to a group

Yes I agree but, Well I have kindof thought this through. There will be a lot of responcability for all of the players. And how about this. If the leader of the team checks in with a blue Admin before making a team and the blue admins jotts down all the information for all of the members IP's which will ban the players if any chaos comes in. Why not make a poll? It might work if a passing 65% is shown and more players, admins,ATH's . Or in shorter terms EVERYONE takes a vote for their say. But still it's just a Jerry idea. I'm trying to make this site grow for more fun!
